(Saint-Léonard, Québec - January 24, 2000 /CNW) - Saputo Group Inc. announced today that it will acquire all of the outstanding shares of Cayer-JCB Group Inc.
Cayer
Cayer specialises in the manufacturing of European-type cheeses such as havarti, brie, camembert, feta and goat. The company's range of well-established brands include: Cayer, Etoile, Belle-Crème and Le Baron. Cayer sells its products mainly at the retail level across Canada, as well as in many American states. The company's revenues are in the C$55 million range and EBITDA of approximately C$3.4 million. Cayer employs some 250 people. The company operates two manufacturing facilities in Québec as well as three distribution centres, two of which are in Québec and one in Ontario.
Mr. Camillo Lisio, President and Chief Operating Officer of Saputo Group Inc. commented the acquisition by saying: "Cayer's expertise in the production of various European-type cheeses is a great add-on to Saputo's assets. Furthermore, these products will complement our existing specialty cheese line. With 34% of Cayer's sales generated outside of Québec, this acquisition fits perfectly with Saputo's strategy to increase its presence at the retail level elsewhere in Canada, as well as in the United States."
