Saputo Inc. announces the closing of its Bakery Division's Aurora plant and the transfer of its activities to the Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce plant

(Montreal, April 3, 2002) – Saputo Inc. announced today the closing of its plant in Aurora, Ontario. The Aurora plant produces tarts marketed under the Granny’s and Flamingo brand names. The closing will take place at the latest on September 27, 2002, and the activities of the plant, which employs 54 people, will be relocated to the Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce, Quebec, plant.
At the same time, the Company announced that, in the context of the continuous evaluation of its operations, about 40 positions will be abolished in the Bakery Division over the coming months.
Costs connected with these announcements will be approximately 1.5 million dollars after income taxes. As a result of the changes the Bakery Division will consist of one plant and close to 1,000 employees.
